A “Big Happy” Kansas City

In a previous blog post, I shared the news of Kansas City’s growing recognition as the premier Midwest technology hub, and why tech companies across the nation are setting their sights on the KC region.

As The Technology Council of Greater KC, KCnext focuses on raising awareness of the region’s ever-expanding tech scene. We do this through varying initiatives, my favorite of which being the educational and networking events.

Big Happy

On Oct. 9 KCnext, in partnership with KCADC, 1102 Grand and Rise of the Rest, will host a unique networking reception titled, The Big Happy. Part of Silicon Prairie News’ annual Big Kansas City event, The Big Happy features some of KC’s top talent, including bites from Patrick Ryan’s Port Fonda, cocktails from mixologist and Manifesto founder Ryan Maybee and musical stylings by Victor & Penny.

Teri Rogers, owner and CEO of nationally recognized digital design and production studio Hint, and Chase McAnulty, founder and CEO of vintage T-shirt brand Charlie Hustle, will also partake in the festivities showcasing their unique talents.

In addition to experiencing the impressive talents of KC’s creatives, guests of The Big Happy will also have a front row seat to witness AOL Co-Founder Steve Case present a $100,000 check to a Kansas City startup. Case will be in KC as part of his Rise of the Rest tour and pitch competition, which features a group of pre-selected startups that pitch their companies to Case. Before presenting the big check, Case will be at Big Kansas City for a fireside chat and the pitch competition, which are open to the public.
